Lashley has hot-potatoed the Intercontinental title with Finn Balor recently.

I'm not saying that WWE should bring back titles (Lord knows we have enough already!), but sometimes, title reigns just seem to mean very little.

For example, when writing this, I wondered about who is the reigning Intercontinental Champion for much longer than I should have, before remembering it was Lashley.

It does seem that few Superstars have been able to elevate themselves with a mid-card title, something that was practically a staple in years gone by.

Imagine if Bret Hart had been left feuding for the IC title forever. Fortunately, that didn't happen as the title reign meant so much more back then.

Hopefully, United States Champion Samoa Joe will be able to move up the card once he drops the star-spangled strap, as many fans still hope to see him as WWE Champion.
