Rey Mysterio suffered an ankle injury during his match against Baron Corbin in the main event of Monday Night Raw. Rey Mysterio had made an official announcement about his injury on his Twitter handle, along with the video of the exact move he suffered the injury from. This forced WWE to pull him out of his match on the following week against Andrade at SmackDown Live.
Rey Mysterio is one of the most successful and popular superstars of the WWE. He made his professional wrestling debut at Mexico in 1989 when he was only 14 years old. He joined the WCW in 1996 and later on in June 2002 his signed his first contract with the WWE.
From then till now he has been a two-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, one-time WWE Champion, three-time Cruiserweight Champion, two-time Intercontinental Champion and a four-time WWE Tag Team Champion with Edge, Rob Van Dam, Eddie Guerrero and Batista.
He also won the Royal Rumble in 2006. With a plethora of trophies and a host of other accolades, he is definitely one of the most successful superstars currently competing in the ring.
He was scheduled to face-off against Samoa Joe for the United States Championship at WrestleMania 35. Till now the extent and severity of his injury is unknown. WWE had made an official announcement that Mysterio is scheduled for a re-examination by the doctor, before his title match at this year’s WrestleMania. Though it seems unlikely that he can recover in time for his match, the fans are still keeping their fingers crossed and hoping to see the high-flyer in action this Sunday night.
