#1 Stepanie McMahon pushed John Cena and wanted him to turn heel in WWE
We now know that Stephanie McMahon has been behind several big ideas and Superstars in WWE, but one interesting thing that some fans don’t know is that she was behind John Cena’s initial push.

The Doctor of Thuganomics has spoken about coming close to being cut from WWE before he tried his Ice Man gimmick that caught Stephanie's eye. She then backed him up and helped him get some big bookings.
That’s not all, as speaking to ESPN Cheap Heat before WrestleMania 33, Stephanie also revealed that she wanted to see Cena turn heel in his career.
“At one point in his career, I really wanted to see him turn heel,” she said. “I wanted it as a fan and I also thought it was the right thing to do, but it turns out I was wrong. And Vince and John…oh yeah, oh yeah, totally, I did. Yeah, but I’m glad that we didn’t go that way, and I think, now, it would be odd for John to turn heel.”
When asked if he would ever turn, she said:
“I guess never say ‘never’ because anything can happen in WWE, but I don’t think I would really miss it. I think that we would miss him. I don’t know that we would miss the heel turn.”
Stephanie’s ideas have worked for WWE for several occasions, and maybe a heel-turn for Cena could have helped him add another dimension to his character.
