One of the biggest talking points of the 2019 Royal Rumble was Nia Jax's physical altercation with the male superstars in the men's Royal Rumble. Not only did Jax attack R-Truth to replace him in the Royal Rumble match, she even went on to eliminate Mustafa Ali. However, the biggest surprise of the evening was Nia Jax receiving three finishers courtesy of Dolph Ziggler, Randy Orton, and Rey Mysterio.
This particular incident reignited talks of intergender matches in WWE. While some may have thought that it was a one-time thing, WWE recently advertised Nia Jax vs Dean Ambrose for a house show.
Hence, it seems WWE might finally take some big steps towards intergender matches. If intergender matches were to become a reality in WWE, the fans already have a list for the matches they cannot wait to see. Here are 5 such matches which will probably be part of everyone's checklist!
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#5 Asuka vs Shinsuke Nakamura
There couldn't be a better match-up for either of these two wrestlers in an intergender wrestling match. Both 'The Princess Of Tomorrow' Asuka and 'The Artist' Shinsuke Nakamura hail from Japan and are part of SmackDown Live. What could be a better sight than the hardest striker in the women's division going toe to toe with the King of Strong Style himself?
Due to their strong striking abilities and extremely good submissions skills, Nakamura and Asuka are the perfect opponents for each other. However, as good as the fight seems, it is equally unpredictable. While it is a different story about who should win, it is evident that their match will be full of hard-hitting and ruthless submissions.
#4 Nia Jax vs Randy Orton
If you have watched the 2019 Royal Rumble, there is no reason for you to not be excited by this match. The staredown between Nia Jax and Randy Orton at the 2019 Royal Rumble was one of the highlights of the entire PPV. While the Viper got the better of Jax at the Rumble, the Irresistible Force won't be an easy opponent if they meet in a singles match.
What makes this match so exciting is that unlike other male superstars on this list, the Apex Predator will not shy away from bringing his dirty tricks regardless of who his opponent is.
Nia Jax, on the other hand, is a formidable threat to any male superstar thanks to her size and strength. Hence it would be interesting to see how this match will go down between two wrestlers who would do anything to get a victory.
#3 Charlotte Flair vs AJ Styles
There is probably no better match-up than having arguably the best wrestler in the women's division against arguably the best wrestler in the men's division. Both AJ Styles and Charlotte Flair are two of the best wrestlers in their divisions and are often compared with each other. The pair were seen together in the Mixed Match Challenge Season 2.
While they were unsuccessful in winning the MMC, the pairing already had the fans craving for a match between the two. Of all the matches on the list, this will arguably be the one to steal the show as both Styles and Flair have had the best matches in their respective divisions in the past few years. So regardless of who you want to root for, you could expect an instant classic from these two phenomenal wrestlers.
#2 Becky Lynch vs Seth Rollins
While the list kicked off with the 2018 Royal Rumble winners going against each other, the second place is held by winners of the 2019 Royal Rumble. However, there is more to why this match is a must-see.
Both Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins claim to be "The Man". As the legendary Ric Flair once said, "to be the man, you have to beat the man". Hence, this match already has a strong storyline to be worked upon.
Even WWE had to acknowledge that there can only be one person to claim the title of "The Man".
Hence, if intergender matches are going to be a reality, both the Lass Kicker and the Architect will not back down to prove who the real man is.
#1 Ronda Rousey vs Brock Lesnar
If there was ever a match that could have topped this list, it is Ronda Rousey vs Brock Lesnar. The Universal Champion and the Raw Women's Champion share a lot of things in common. Not only do they hold the top titles of their brand, but they were also extremely successful in UFC. They also found ample success in WWE during their debut year.
Both former UFC Champions are special attractions of every show they are part of. Hence it is a no-brainer to have them on this list. The match itself would be nothing short of jaw-dropping as these two mixed martial artists go head to head in the squared circle.
Hence, it will be intriguing to see which submission move will reign supreme, the armbar or the kimura lock?
