The main event of SummerSlam will see Roman Reigns defend the Universal Championship against John Cena. But what if there's another twist in the tale?

Finn Balor inserted himself into SmackDown's world title scene by challenging The Tribal Chief moments after he had rejected Cena's proposal for a match at the upcoming pay-per-view. However, during the contract signing for the match, Baron Corbin attacked the former NXT Champion and Cena ran in to sign the contract.

While the two megastars are set to collide, Balor did not take kindly to being brushed aside. He called out the 16-time world champion a week later but was eventually beaten down by Reigns and The Usos. After missing last week's SmackDown, could Finn Balor shock the world and insert himself into the SummerSlam main event?

A radical booking decision like this would be accompanied by a plan. WWE may add Balor to this match, possibly with one eye on the September 10th episode of SmackDown at Madison Square Garden. Perhaps, John Cena vs. Roman Reigns is shifted to that show, which instantly becomes a huge deal.
