Chris Jericho has been the AEW World Champion since the first match was made to determine who would hold it. A lot of people assumed that it would be Hangman Page because All Elite Wrestling wanted to build the company around younger individuals but Jericho it was.
And ever since then, Chris Jericho has been a great Champion and has even worked with babyfaces such as Darby Allin and Jungle Boy to elevate them as far as possible. But there comes a time when you need a change at the top of the roster especially because you have fewer titles than other promotions to make it seem like enough is happening within the company.
Jon Moxley couldn't lose this big match either because he's been protected from the time that he's come to All Elite Wrestling and he needed to win on such a big stage for him to be hailed as the face of the company over the coming weeks. Do you like him as the Champion?
