Clash of Champions may have debuted in WWE back in 2016, but long-time wrestling fans will know that WCW once had an event with the same name.

Clash of The Champions under the WCW banner ran from 1988 until 1997, it seems that before WWE debuted their version of the show, they had to buy the rights for the name and with it they were able to purchase all 35 episodes of NWA: Clash of The Champions, which are all now available to view on the WWE Network.
There have been some interesting matches and title changed over the past few decades at this event, so it would be worth catching up on the entire story before this weekend's second annual event.
