Over the past eight years, Hell in a Cell has seen a number of Championships defended, including the WWE Championship, The World Heavyweight Championship, The United States Championship, and last year, even saw the Universal Championship defended for the first time.

Last year also saw the Women's Championship defended inside the structure for the first time as Charlotte defeated Sasha Banks in the main event of the annual event.

This means that the only singles Championship that has never been defended inside the structure is the Intercontinental Championship, which is currently around the waist of The Miz.

This year will also make history when The New Day defend their SmackDown Tag Team Championships inside the structure for the first time.
