His winning streak started at WrestleMania 14 in what Jim Ross dubbed as the beginning of the Austin Era. He defeated Shawn Michaels for the WWE title on that night. Austin defeated his arch-rival The Rock at WrestleMania 15 in the main event of the show.
Stone Cold wasn't a part of WrestleMania 16 due to an injury. He returned to the event a year later and defeated The Rock again for the WWE title in the main event. Austin turned heel during the match and shook hands with Vince McMahon as the show came to a close.
At WrestleMania 18, Austin met Scott Hall and picked up a win over the nWo member. Austin would lose to The Rock at WrestleMania 19 a year later. He retired from pro-wrestling right away and hasn't competed in a match ever since.
