Cena then defeated JBL for the WWE title in 2005 and successfully defended the coveted belt against Triple H at WrestleMania 22. There was no stopping Cena at this point. He put down Mr. WrestleMania himself, Shawn Michaels, in 2007 to retain the belt.
Cena's streak was broken the next year when he lost the WWE title Triple Threat match at WrestleMania 24.
He kicked off another streak when he defeated The Rock in their second encounter at The Show of Shows in 2013. Cena defeated Bray Wyatt a year later and picked up a US title win over Rusev (now known as Miro on AEW) in 2015.
Cena didn't compete at WrestleMania 32 but returned a year later to team up with Nikki Bella in a winning effort against The Miz and Maryse. This streak was broken in 2018 when The Undertaker squashed Cena in a matter of minutes.

Given the opportunity to script WWE’s next big storyline, Abhilash would treat fans to the second installment of The Bloodline Civil War. He would book Roman Reigns to re-form The Bloodline with The Usos and Sami Zayn upon his comeback. The angle would see The Tribal Chief-led group go head-to-head with The Rock, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu in a blockbuster family feud.
