WrestleMania 37 was the first time since 2003 where John Cena did not appear on the Grandest Stage of Them All. The 16-time world champion last appeared for WWE at last year's WrestleMania 36 and many expected him to be a part of this year's show as well, in some manner. However, that didn't happen.

Earlier reports suggested that while John Cena's WrestleMania 37 status was unclear, wrestlers were expecting him to be there.

"Things are still unclear in regards to seeing John Cena at Raymond James Stadium this weekend. Fightful has reported that any plans involving Cena would have had to be planned far in advance due to his busy schedule. However, it has also been reported that wrestlers who spoke to Fightful have said that they would be surprised if there was no involvement from Cena at the event."

John Cena also teased appearing at WrestleMania 37 through an Instagram post. However, the Leader of Cenation didn't turn up at the PPV. There was one mention of him during the PPV when Bayley took a shot at Nikki Bella by telling her that John Cena was not there.
