It's been an eventful few days for the WWE Universe. After the two Royal Rumbles this past weekend, rumours have surfaced now that former WWE Champion, Dean Ambrose, is set to leave the company at the end of April.
Naturally, this has come as a bit of a surprise to the WWE Universe, and while there is every chance that this might be nothing more than a rumour, there have been plenty of signs that Ambrose has not been happy with his current position on WWE television as of late.
If Ambrose is to leave the WWE, he would arguably be the biggest departure from the company since CM Punk walked out in 2014.
Given the current strength of the wrestling scene though, it is difficult to imagine Ambrose is going to be out of work for long.
With that in mind, let's take a look at 5 dream matches Dean Ambrose could have if he left the WWE.
#5 Kenny Omega
No list of dream matches would be complete without an appearance from the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Kenny Omega.
While Omega's future may currently be up in the air, it seems highly likely that he will be heading to AEW in the coming weeks, and if that is the case, then a match between him and Ambrose could certainly be on the cards.
Ambrose and Omega's styles may not be too similar, but both men are experts between the ropes and could definitely put something incredibly special together if given the opportunity.
There is also every chance that, if both men do join AEW, they could easily be competing in the company's top slots alongside one another in the very near future.
#4 Will Ospreay
WIll Ospreay is one of the most exciting acts in all of wrestling. His high-flying and innovative offence have earned him plaudits all over the world and he has managed to achieve a considerable amount of fame without ever stepping foot near a WWE ring.
Ospreay has never been one to back down from a challenge, and neither has Dean Ambrose and even though the two men's styles may not be an obvious match, there is little to no doubt that the two men would be able to produce something special.
If Ambrose does decide to leave the WWE and doesn't sign for AEW, then there is every chance that we will see this match-up very soon, with Ospreay being one of the biggest draws on the indie circuit.
#3 Pac
The artist formerly known as Neville has quickly become an example of just how much wrestlers can achieve when they decide to leave Stanford, Connecticut.
Pac has quickly become one of the most in-demand performers outside of the WWE and was recently unveiled as one of the marquee signings for the new promotion, All Elite Wrestling.
The two superstars have met before, most notably once in NXT, but they have never been given a chance to show what they are both capable of when they are at the top of their game.
No doubt, if Ambrose does head over to AEW, he and Neville could both find themselves competing towards the top end of the card.
#2 Jimmy Havoc
When it comes to hardcore wrestling, there are few performers out there who can hold a torch to British wrestler, Jimmy Havoc.
The former Progress World Champion has made a name for himself for his insane performances in hardcore matches and deathmatches, and it is rare he finishes a night not covered in blood.
Ambrose has fallen out of touch with his hardcore routes since joining the WWE, but a match against Jimmy Havoc somewhere on the independent scene could be a quick way of reacquainting the wider wrestling world with his former Jon Moxley persona and his hardcore ways.
#1 Sami Callihan
Dean Ambrose may have once been the biggest lunatic on the wrestling scene, but in recent year's, Impact Wrestling's Sami Callihan has taken that mantle.
Callihan's notoriety peaked when he took out Eddie Edwards with a baseball bat, and the Impact star has run with that gimmick ever since.
Ambrose, however, especially as Jon Moxley could easily give Callihan a run for his money when it comes to the crazy department.
The two men are both willing to put themselves through hell in the name of entertainment and with the pressure of WWE's PG-13 policy off his shoulders, Ambrose could really excel in a feud with Callihan.
