The Undertaker, The Wyatts or The Shield? 5 Possible opponents for John Cena until WrestleMania XXX

What next ?

What next ?

Many didn’t expect John Cena to lose the unification match at TLC against Randy Orton but the whole dynamic of the WWE landscape changed when the same happened.

Just when Cena’s never losing run was getting stale, the WWE pulled of the unthinkable and finally showed us that Cena is mere mortal like all the others on the roster. There aren’t many stars in the list that could beat Cena like Orton did at TLC and it calls out the effort that the creative put to give us something fresh.

To be frank apart from Orton, CM Punk and Daniel Bryan there is no one else who could stand toe to toe with the Cenation leader when it comes down to the wire. Yet Cena took the fall and lost out on a chance to have both titles on his waist.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

With the WrestleMania season approaching fast, Cena could well be injected back into the title scene or could be paired with some alternatives just to make him ready for the big stage. So here is a look at the possible opponents for John Cena until the grand stage of them all.

Mark Henry

The last time these two faced off, we had a great angle where Henry pranked everyone about his retirement. And we only got to see one match in the feud which calls for another.

But unlike the last time no titles are involved since Cena is not champion so something personal could be pulled up to building a storyline. It would also need Henry to turn heel, which would go well with his bald look. Henry might not be one of those top stars, but he could get some time off for Cena as the WWE can bring back him into the main event scene at the right time.

Wyatt Family

The creepy guys already got one over a top star and it won’t look bad if they go behind another one. Bray Wyatt and his creepy guys would be an interesting choice for Cena as they are more of verbal stars than physical ones.

Cena is also a contrast to Bryan, who was shown weak throughout the storyline despite getting wins. At the same time there won’t be a bigger push for the Wyatts than this.

The champ could take another fall just to make himself look unpredictable cum WrestleMania and would give us a match to look forward to than one whose outcome we already know.

The Shield

The Shield

The Shield

CM Punk has set his sights on the Authority and has left the Shield feud. As for now, the split of Shield is being paused till a suitable storyline comes across. Putting Cena into the mix would be a nice touch as Roman Reigns could also have a partner when he eventually turns face to challenge the other two.

Cena could be booked just like Punk, with the only difference being in the outcome. This should be the final chapter in Shield and should make Reigns turn face. The star power of Cena would be an ideal stage for the big Samoan and the fans would also get to see how much importance that the company gives to him.

Randy Orton

Now this is the most obvious choice because clearly Cena deserves a rematch. Though Orton won fair and square at TLC, similar feuds where two titles are involved don’t end with only one match. A continuation of the feud to Royal Rumble is likely to happen but wouldn’t be interesting to see unless they put some more twist in.

The fans clearly want Daniel Bryan as the champion and at one point the company would have to give up by going the path which will be shown by the fans. So if a triple threat match is not booked, then we could see the Orton-Cena feud being stretched a bit longer.

The Undertaker

The Undertaker

This is the best way that the WWE could book Cena for WrestleMania. A good old buildup from Royal Rumble with many mid games from the Phenom would always be a welcome sign for the fans.

Now it’s the best decision mainly because of two reasons.

One, Undertaker is yet to be booked for WrestleMania and the most favorite name on the list, Brock Lesnar is nowhere to be seen. The dream match against Sting is not likely to materialize leaving the top guy in the company a credible opponent. Break the streak or continue the streak, the match would be interesting to see because finally it could sow the seeds to make Cena a heel.

Secondly, Cena and Orton, unification all feels like been there done that type of feud and keeping Cena in the title picture won’t make sense unless they decide to throw in Daniel Bryan or CM Punk into the mix.
