#2 Asuka and Rhea Ripley battle at WrestleMania 37
Asuka has led the RAW women's division heading into WrestleMania 37. She won the RAW Women's title after winning at the Money in the Bank last year. She briefly lost the title to Sasha Banks due to some interference, but won it back at SummerSlam.
Asuka is one of the best wrestlers in WWE, and finally gets to defend a singles title at the Show of Shows. At WrestleMania 34, she won the Royal Rumble, but lost to Charlotte Flair. The following year, she lost the title to Flair only weeks before the event. Instead of getting to defend the title, she was pigeon-holed into the Women's WrestleMania Battle Royal.
At WrestleMania 36, she defended the WWE Women's Tag Team belts alongside Kairi Sane. They ended up losing to Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. Things haven't been on her side when it comes to the Grandest Stage of Them All.
As things are, Asuka has had a lengthy reign atop RAW. It was hard to think like that towards the end of 2020 when Flair returned. Most of the focus was put back onto the Queen, Lacey Evans, and the Women's Tag titles instead of the RAW Women's Champion.
The story continued during feuds with the current Women's Tag Champions, Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. It looked like the direction for Asuka at WrestleMania 37 was defending against Flair, and would most likely mean another loss at the Show of Shows for the Empress of Tomorrow.
Things quickly changed when Flair contracted COVID-19. Rhea Ripley made her anticipated RAW debut two weeks ago to challenge Asuka for WrestleMania 37. Both women lost last year and only one can win this year.
Asuka is one of the best wrestlers in all of WWE but the booking hasn't always met that. Ripley just showed up, but could very well dethrone the Empress at WrestleMania 37.
Asuka deserves to win a match of this caliber since she's 0-3 at prior WrestleManias. Whether it's submissions, striking or all-out in-ring acumen, few can match the Empress of Tomorrow. Ripley lost to Flair at last year's show and many felt it was one of the best matches of the card.
Both women can bring their A-game and will do so on an even bigger stage like WrestleMania 37. Expect them to pull out all the stops in order to walk out of WrestleMania 37 as Champion.
