5 matches WWE could have planned for RAW tonight after Extreme Rules 2019

WWE Extreme Rules 2019 is in the history books and what a show it was. The eleventh pay per view under the Extreme Rules banner, last night's show allowed the Superstars of WWE to embrace their more wild side and dish out some serious punishment in the pursuit of championship glory.

But with Extreme Rules out of the way, the Superstars will have no time to rest, as everybody's attention now turns to Monday Night RAW tonight.

Here are five huge matches the WWE could have in store tonight on RAW after an explosive Extreme Rules pay per view.

#5 Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens Vs. Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre

The Big Dog and the Deadman emerged triumphant last night

In the WWE Extreme Rules opener, the dream team of Roman Reigns and The Undertaker were able to defeat Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre in a physical No Holds Barred tag team match. McIntyre and Shane, who have made plenty of enemies recently, held their own, but were no match for the two former World Champions, who handily defeated them.

Of course, don't expect Shane to take this loss lying down (he is a McMahon after all), and could demand another match tonight in his efforts to destroy Roman. Of course, it's unlikely that the Deadman would wrestle again so soon after Extreme Rules, though we're sure Kevin Owens, the newly face-turned voice of the people, would love to get his hands on McMahon tonight.

If Shane doesn't feel like wrestling tonight, there's no shortage of stars who could replace him, including the WWE RAW Tag Team Champions The Revival, who have flirted with being part of the Prodigal Son's entourage, and despite being champions are currently rudderless on the flagship show.

#4 Becky Lynch issues an open challenge

The Man needs a new opponent now Evans is out of the title hunt

Things may not have gone exactly to plan for her boyfriend Seth Rollins (we'll get to that later...), but Extreme Rules was certainly a night to remember for The Man Becky Lynch.

Working with the Architect, Rollins and Lynch retained their titles against Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans, in a last-chance Winner Takes All mixed tag match, meaning neither the Sassy Southern Belle nor the Lone Wolf can challenge for the titles.

With Evans finally out of her hair, Lynch will be needing a new challenger, and could find one tonight if she issues an open challenge. Since winning the title at WrestleMania 35, The Man has been the embodiment of a fighting champion, and even though she no longer has to worry about Evans, will be hungry for someone new to face tonight.

#3 AJ Styles Vs. Ricochet (United States Championship)

The war between these two stars seems to be far from over

AJ Styles' heel turn continues to pay dividends for the former WWE Champion, as last night at Extreme Rules, the Phenomenal One captured the United States title from Ricochet. To be fair to the former champion, Styles did not do this alone, as he received a big assist from Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, who practically assured that the Phenomenal One won the gold.

Obviously, this will not have gone down well with Ricochet, who only held the title briefly, and will be hungry to get it back. It's with this in mind that the company could indeed book a rematch between the two tonight on Raw, and though it seems unlikely that Styles would drop the star-spangled strap so soon back to Ricochet, we all know to never say never when it comes to WWE.

#2 Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Aleister Black

The two former NXT Champions waged a war which saw Nakamura become the new Intercontinental Champion

Two men that certainly had a good showing last night, Shinsuke Nakamura and Aleister Black, left Extreme Rules as winners. On the one hand, Black toppled Cesaro in his first major match on the main roster since splitting from Ricochet, whilst Nakamura, who has spent much of 2019 forgotten by creative, captured the Intercontinental Championship from Finn Balor.

A non-title match could be a great thing for tonight's three-hour show, and could be the start of something big for the Dutch Superstar. It has been quite a while since Black last held gold in WWE (the NXT Championship), and he has yet to receive any singles title opportunities on the main roster. A win tonight over the new Intercontinental Champion could definitely change that and also make for a great feud.

#1 Universal Champion Brock Lesnar Vs. Seth Rollins (Universal Championship)

Lesnar regained the title in convincing fashion last night

Yes, I know it's unlikely, but there is the chance that Brock Lesnar will have to defend his Universal title on Monday Night RAW, just one day into his reign. At Extreme Rules, the Beast shocked the world by living up to his promise, cashing in the Money in the Bank briefcase on a battered Rollins to capture the red title for the third time.

Whilst Lesnar's schedule means it's been a good while since we've seen him on Monday Night Raw, remember that it is his advocate Paul Heyman who will be fully taking the reins of the red brand tonight as the new Executive Director. It's well-known that Heyman hopes to bring change to the company's flagship show, and what better way than having the new Champion defend tonight?
