MVP is the leader of one of the most intimidating factions in WWE at the moment and even if he does come up short at SummerSlam 2020, he will still be in the thick of things once the event has concluded. On the other hand, Apollo Crews may have all the momentum in the world as the current WWE United States Champion but if he does indeed come up short at SummerSlam 2020, he will slip further down the ranks and may never regain the kind of momentum that he has.
Apollo Crews can go on to defend the United States Championship against the likes of Seth Rollins after SummerSlam 2020 when the feud with MVP is done and dusted for good. WWE may even choose to have him go up against someone like Randy Orton who could honestly elevate Apollo Crews to the next level after SummerSlam 2020. But if he loses the WWE United States Championship, all of this won't be possible.
