Rey Mysterio's return to WWE seems inevitable, considering Dominik's situation. While his contract had reportedly expired, Dominik's push had seemingly played a significant role in convincing him to sign a new contract. It seems to be the case where Rey Mysterio wants to transition out of WWE and wrestling in a matter of time to help pave the way for his son.

Tom Colohue reported on multiple occasions that WWE and Rey Mysterio were coming closer and closer to signing a new contract. While this is just speculation, we feel that the contract has already been signed and that Mysterio is simply waiting for SummerSlam to return.

Having Rey Mysterio return to help Dominik at SummerSlam would be a brilliant way to bring him back, but only if there's a story that comes off it. If WWE was to bring Rey Mysterio back for no reason, it would be a waste of a moment. He's the only other star (apart from Murphy) who needs to and will likely get involved in the match.
