When it comes to WWE Backlash, as we've seen on this list, always expect the unexpected. The event has seen some really unforseen and brutal moments for WWE. One such moment took place when Edge faced John Cena for the World Heavyweight Championship in 2009.

The two longtime rivals brought everything to the ring as they had a lot to prove. Heading into the event, Cena was the World Heavyweight Champion. He had beaten Edge and Big Show, but was now facing the Rated-R Superstar directly in a Last Man Standing Match.

The match was naturally brutal, with both superstars doing everything in their power to keep the other down for the 10-count. Weapons of all sorts were brought out for their use, with steel steps also being used as they battled for supremacy.

They battled up the ramp when the unthinkable happened. The Big Show made his way out. The fans were not happy, but they were not prepared for what would happen next. The giant superstar then picked up the already beaten and bedraggled Cena to chokeslam him into a spotlight with a large explosion.

Cena was down for the count and lost the title, but the nature of his loss was one that showed that at Backlash, unless superstars are careful, anything can happen.
