Why not go back to where it all started?
That rare cathartic moment where WWE decided to give CM Punk an open microphone to air his grievances to the WWE Universe and forever reshape the landscape of the company. It would also be the start of one of the most reality-bending segments in all of WWE history, which only drew fans into it more.
Interestingly enough, this moment didn't start with CM Punk - it actually began with a main event Tables match between R-Truth and John Cena. In fact, Cena was just about to put Truth away with an AA when Punk came out of nowhere to remove the table. Cena responded by going after Punk but was speared through another table by Truth in the process.
While Cena laid there in absolute agony, Punk climbed up the ramp, sat down and revealed that his WWE contract was set to expire in three weeks. He went on to claim that he despised the idea of Cena being WWE's best competitor and even called The Cenation leader a suck-up.
After that, Punk took shots at Vince McMahon and claimed that the brass rings he always went on about were completely imaginary, which only seemed to fuel his anger. As if that wasn't awesome enough, he went on to complain that he wasn't featured in movies, was barely promoted and wasn't even on the poster for that years WrestleMania.
Maybe the biggest shot Punk took during this whole tirade though, besides calling out the fans on their greediness, was saying that McMahon surrounded himself with yes men. In fact, Punk claimed that McMahon was a millionaire that should have been a billionaire, but that the company would keep making money in spite of him.
Punk was cut off shortly after that, but the sting that came from that singular segment was enough to create a revolution. It was enough to firmly invest fans in the product, blur the lines and make something that would reshape the entire industry. All thanks to CM Punk's way with words!
