One of the problems with MITB is figuring out when the holder is going to cash in. Sometimes it’s decided weeks and months in advance, but 90% of the time WWE decides on the night that the person in possession of the briefcase is going to become the new World Champion.

So then, why not have someone genuinely fearing that they’ll lose their opportunity?

If someone like Kevin Owens or Dolph Ziggler wins the match, but for the 11 months, they can’t find a good enough opportunity to cash it in. Then, with around a week remaining, they start to panic with fans not knowing whether they’d miss the deadline and have their championship opportunity taken away from them.
