#3 Only the second time the Summerslam WWE Championship match featured no US-born Wrestlers

With WWE having its headquarters in the United States, it's hardly surprising that most of their roster, especially the top-tier talent, are American-born. However, every now and then an international star will make his or her presence known and break the US monopoly on top of the wrestling mountain.
When it comes to WWE Championship matches at Summerslam, however, we very rarely see two non-US born athletes meet face to face. In fact, Summerslam 2017 marked the first time in 23 years since the company's main championship was defended by two international superstars.
Jinder Mahal, who is Canadian and of Indian descent, and Shinsuke Nakamura, who is born in Japanese, made a small bit of history this year, despite their rather disappointing match.
You have to go all the way back to 1994 when Bret Hart took on Owen Hart for the WWE Championship inside a steel cage for the last time this happened. It's conceivable that we will be seeing this again, particularly with the increase in interest towards non-US wrestling today, with the British and Japanese markets growing in particular.
