NXT is a revolutionary concept brought forward by the WWE. What started off as a reality show featuring rookies from WWE's previous developmental territory FCW, has now evolved into a separate brand with a unique roster of its own.
The reality TV aspect of the show was dropped in early 2012 and the reins were handed over to Triple H who has successfully made NXT into the third major brand of the WWE complementing Raw and SmackDown Live.
With the emergence of NXT and the WWE Performance Center, aspiring professional wrestlers from all over the world are given an opportunity to shine in the big leagues.
Many superstars coming out from the NXT brand have successfully become world champions on the main roster. Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Finn Balor & Kevin Owens are living testimonies that NXT is capable of creating the future superstars of the WWE.
A plethora of talented performers are in the WWE's development brand right now and are waiting for their opportunity to make an impact when they are called up to the main roster.
Let's take a look at 5 NXT superstars who are destined to be world champions on the main roster when they are called up.

#5 Andrade "Cien" Almas
We'll start this list with the current reigning NXT Champion Andrade "Cien" Almas. After his stint on the independent circuit performing as " La Sombra", Almas made his NXT debut in November 2015.
The 28-year-old superstar now holds all the momentum in his hands after becoming the NXT Heavyweight Champion after defeating Drew McIntyre at NXT Take Over War Games in November 2017.
With Zelena Vega by his side, Almas has all it takes to be one of the best heels on the main roster when he is eventually called up and there is no denying that he will become the WWE Champion in the near future.
#4 Aleister Black
Black is one of the most talented performers on the NXT roster right now. Ever since he made his debut on the WWE's developmental territory, Black has never failed to impress the fans in attendance and as well as the WWE higher-ups.
His matches against the Velveteen Dream and Adam Cole are proof of what the Dutch Destroyer is capable of.
Though he may not have won the NXT Championship until now, there is no denying the fact that Black is destined to become a world champion on the main roster when he is called-up.
#3 EC 3
Ethan Carter III who was previously known as Derrick Bateman was part of the fourth season of the original NXT TV series. Unfortunately for Carter, his first stint with the WWE did not go as he would've thought. He found himself out of the company in early May 2013.
But that didn't stop him as he went on to reinvent himself on the independent circuits and eventually found his way to TNA as EC 3, the nephew of then TNA President Dixie Carter.
The amount of improvement he had in his in-ring performance and his character, would ultimately lead him back to the WWE. EC 3 returned to NXT in January 2018 at NXT TakeOver Philadelphia.
Recently, he was named as one of the six participants who would be participating in a ladder match to crown the first ever WWE North American Champion at NXT TakeOver New Orleans.
It will take some time until WWE promotes him to the main roster but when he goes there, he is guaranteed to become a world champion in the process.
#2 Adam Cole
WWE signed Adam Col,e who was one of the hottest free agents in the professional wrestling industry, in August 2017 to their development territory NXT.
It will not be an overstatement if one say that we see a glimpse of Shawn Michaels in the 28-year-old man from Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
It is evident that Cole has the faith of Triple H, which was made clear when he was booked to win the first ever WarGames match in NXT.
He will now look to capture the inaugural NXT North American Championship at NXT TakeOver New Orleans when he takes on 5 other contenders in a ladder match. He is the current favorite to win the inaugural championship at New Orleans.
The WWE universe will be waiting eagerly for the day Adam Cole gets promoted to the main roster and when he gets there, there's no stopping him from becoming the WWE Champion in the very near future.
#1 Drew McIntryre
To be honest, McIntyre should've been world champion during his days as Vince McMahon's chosen one. He had the charisma and the in-ring ability to become a decent world champion but somehow he was overlooked during his first stint with the company.
He was one of the best heels the WWE had to offer during his initial stages with the company but he would eventually get lost in the shuffle and found himself on the lower mid card.
McIntyre was then added to the parody stable 3MB alongside Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater and that was the final nail in the coffin for his first tenure with the WWE and he was eventually released in June 2014.
McIntyre would go on to rejuvenate his career on the independent scenes as Drew Galloway and much like EC3, he found his break on TNA. Drew went on to capture the TNA World Heavyweight Championship and the Impact Grand Championship in the process.
McIntyre returned to WWE at NXT TakeOver Orlando in April 2017 and since then he has held the NXT Championship once. He is now out of action due to injury and is expected to be cleared to compete after WrestleMania 34.
He is expected to be called up to the main roster on the draft which is rumored to happen after WrestleMania 34 and we can expect McIntyre to be drafted to SmackDown Live. It is highly possible that if McIntyre carries on the same momentum he is having right now, he is destined to become the WWE Champion very soon.
