Initially, Honky Tonk Man was set to defend his Intercontinental title against Brutus The Barber Beefcake. However, Beefcake was unable to participate, due to a storyline injury. With that said, Honky Tonk Man issued an open challenge, which was answered by none other than The Ultimate Warrior.
Honky Tonk Man never saw Warrior coming. Warrior made his entrance like a bolt of lightning, attacking immediately and picking up a quick win.
