When both these men were in WWE, it's hard to remember if they had a real feud. While it's probably true that they had an occasional match against one another, it was never really a proper bout.

Cody Rhodes never really got pushed to where he should be. However, he still kept reinventing himself and trying out different gimmicks. The Stardust character, while ridiculed by most WWE fans and Cody himself, proved that Cody always went out of his way to make anything work, like his father Dusty Rhodes.
Cody in his current avatar as The American Nightmare is one who cuts deadly promos, can move well in the ring and knows how to tell a good story. This version of Cody Rhodes is someone that CM Punk has never faced.
With Punk's natural promo skills and Cody's improvement as a performer, it would certainly add to a potential match in the future.

My love of professional wrestling has been a journey. When I look back at my life, I realize that it's always been there in the background. While there were years where I stopped following it, I don't think I ever stopped loving it.
I have always been writing, and I have honed my skillset over the years, writing for various newspapers, publications, and other entertainment websites. Wrestling is just a happy accident and coincided with my falling back in love with the genre, with the rise of AEW.
Wrestling is physical storytelling and stories; they make us fly! I recount those stories through analytical features and news that come out of it.
