The Planet's Champion, Daniel Bryan, has captivated the WWE Universe with his performances in the last few months. Daniel Bryan could never ever get a proper run as WWE Champion during his first stint with WWE.
Bryan is more than making up for the lack of a proper run with the title, with an amazing display this time around. Bryan is set to defend his title against five other superstars in the Elimination Chamber, but is unlikely to drop the title just weeks away from Wrestlemania.
Daniel Bryan has had some exceptional encounters at Wrestlemania in the past, and hence a mega matchup for the WWE Champion is only fitting.
We look at five different superstars who could face Daniel Bryan at the "Grandest Stage of Them All!"
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#5: Aliester Black
Both Black and Bryan have some interesting personalities in WWE. While Bryan is portraying an environmental conversationalist, Black has a mystic persona similar to the Undertaker. Bryan and Black both have a very strong hitting move-set full of high power kicks.
Although Black has not debuted on the main-roster yet, and a WWE Championship match in his very first Wrestlemania seems far-fetched, the former NXT Champion is a left-field pick to be Bryan's opponent.
The Smackdown Roster is not filled with babyfaces who could stand up to Daniel Bryan, and hence, a callup for Black could be possible.
Aliester Black has one of the best looks, personality and in-ring skills in WWE today, which could be a significant game changer for WWE. His moveset is one of the most dangerous looking yet slickest, and could easily produce a five star classic against Daniel Bryan.
Black has absolved Dream and Gargano of their "sins". Could Bryan be the next?
#4 Kofi Kingston
The New Day have excelled as a stable in the tag team division for over four years now. They have won several tag team championships and have never disappointed when given an opportunity.
WWE Universe has clamored endlessly for a push to the ever-so athletic Kofi Kingston. New Day themselves have acknowledged this, and have expressed their desire to give Kofi a much-needed WWE Championship match-up.
New Day and Daniel Bryan are polar opposites when it comes to their gimmicks. While Bryan is trying to recycle things in order to make the planet a better place, New Day shamelessly waste food every single night!
The duels between Bryan and New Day could be fun to watch, and will end up giving Kofi Kingston a much deserved Wrestlemania moment!
If Luke Harper returns and joins Bryan's new stable with Eric Rowan, we could even get a solid 3v3 matchup sometime!
#3: Rey Mysterio
Rey Mysterio is a former WWE Champion, and returned to WWE full-time last October. Since his return, the masked luchador has featured in a feud with Randy Orton and Andrade. His feud with Andrade has been widely appreciated, with their matches making headlines week after week.
Rey Mysterio couldn't make it to the Elimination Chamber matchup, but could very well be the opponent for Bryan at Wrestlemania. Both these superstars have crossed paths before, but have never featured in a full-fledged feud.
Mysterio, one of the biggest babyfaces in WWE history, could be a major selling point leading upto Wrestlemania. Mysterio v Bryan will be a match which will appeal to all age-groups and fanbases.
Rey Mysterio is in the twilight of his career, having wrestled for over 25 years at the highest level. A final run with the coveted WWE Championship could be a perfect farewell for the company veteran.
#2 Finn Balor
As mentioned earlier, Smackdown Live's roster is surprisingly short at main-event level babyfaces. Balor featured in the Universal Championship match against Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble last month, and delivered an exceptional performance.
Balor crossing over to challenge Bryan could be a major talking point, and will be a significant boost for the first ever Universal Champion.
Finn Balor has failed to reach the heights of his NXT run on the main roster, and some believe WWE might have wasted the prime years of the superstar.
However, Balor is still impeccable in the ring, and a match against Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania would elevate him to higher levels.
Finn Balor v Daniel Bryan will make for a memorable encounter at the Grandest Stage of Them All, and could potentially steal the show.
The Demon facing the The Planet's Champion would be an interesting matchup.
#1 John Cena
Wrestlemania is never complete without John Cena, and he could very well return for a match soon. John Cena was scheduled to be at the Rumble, but it was a no-show, since he had movie committments.
John Cena seems to be getting away from WWE with each passing day, with numerous movie projects lined up. Cena, however, is still one championship victory away from eclipsing Ric Flair as the most crowned champion in WWE history.
Cena returuning to face Bryan, a superstar whom he has never defeated, will make for an interesting rivalry. Cena has been the Man of the People for over a decade now, and would definetely be an apt foe for Bryan's shtick.
Bryan won his first WWE Championship after defeating John Cena. Could John Cena become the most crowned superstar in WWE, win his 17th World Championship, by defeating Daniel Bryan?
