Daniel Bryan continued his "new" persona, and defeated AJ Styles yet again at TLC 2018. A victory for Bryan almost confirms his feud with Styles is over, but we never know. Bryan's new attitude is creating magic on SmackDown Live, and fans are interested to see where this leads to next.
The WWE Championship is unarguably the most prestigious belt on the main roster, and the person holding the championship automatically becomes the centre of attention. Who Daniel Bryan faces next, or what he does is definitely a major question in the WWE Universe.
SmackDown Live is not short on babyfaces who are itching to get their hands on the WWE Championship. Superstars could also come in from NXT, making it an interesting prospect.
WrestleMania season is looming large. What could WWE be planning for Daniel Bryan heading into Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 35?
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#5 Time for some New Day?
It is no secret that the New Day have been one of the hottest acts in WWE during the last five years. They had a momentous reign as tag team champions, and have produced one of the greatest rivalries ever, alongside The Usos.
There have been calls for New Day to venture into the singles division, and lighten up the singles division as well. Kofi Kingston and Big E have won singles championships in the past, and Xavier Woods is no slouch in the ring either.
A feud between the New Day and the New Daniel Bryan will be an interesting rivalry, as it will be something fresh and out of the blue.
New Day have immense talent, charisma, and potential, which will be a perfect foil for Daniel Bryan's new found attitude. Big E or Kofi Kingston holding the championship is long overdue, and will make the WWE Universe go wild in anticipation!
#4 Rey Mysterio
WWE's most successful little man, Rey Mysterio, facing off against yet another little man who found success, Daniel Bryan, will be a magical storyline. Rey Mysterio and Daniel Bryan are two fan favourites from two different eras altogether.
Bryan became the most loved babyface during the PG Era, while Mysterio enthralled audiences worldwide and became a household name during the Ruthless Aggression Era. Both these individuals have faced off against giant superstars like Khali, Kane, Big Show, etc, and will undoubtedly have brilliant chemistry in the ring.
Daniel Bryan and Rey Mysterio both are competitors of similar size, and hence will find it quite easy to gel together and produce a fine encounter.
Mysterio doesn't have age on his side, and a push into the main-event for one last time will be deserving for the masked luchador. One more championship run maybe?
#3 The Miz
The Miz and Daniel Bryan never really finished their long standing rivalry. These two individuals have history going back eight years, and such a long rivalry is not done and dusted with a two minute match-up at a glorified house show.
With Bryan turning heel last month, and Miz showing signs of a potential babyface turn, a role reversal leading to a championship feud is very likely between the two superstars. Miz and Bryan competing for the WWE Championship is only deserving, considering the kind of feud they have had in the past few years.
The mentor (Miz) facing off against his protege (Bryan) will make a story for ages, and will help WWE up the ratings. Good stories between fleshed out characters is what the fans are desperately asking for, and WWE must oblige and give the fans what they want.
#2 Aleister Black
The falling ratings in WWE is most likely due to burn-out and stale personas. WWE needs to inject fresh superstars into the grand scheme of things, and calling up Aleister Black from NXT is overdue.
Aleister Black is a one of a kind superstar, and his personality is dark, intriguing, and interesting. Many critics have called Black a refreshing mix of The Undertaker and Bray Wyatt, and that statement is absolutely true.
Larger than life characters were the reason WWE was so successful back in the day, and Aleister Black is a superstar who fits the bill quite well.
Aleister Black vs Daniel Bryan will be a hard hitting encounter, with both superstars looking to kick each other into oblivion. Their hard hitting offense, along with in-ring psychology will be a treat for the WWE Universe.
#1 John Cena
When the going gets tough, the tough get going. WWE are in tough times right now with regards to ratings and fan backlash. Their biggest superstar, Roman Reigns, is out due to injury, which means they'll have to turn to the biggest superstar before Reigns. And his name is John Cena!
John Cena is the biggest star on the roster today, and has not made any appearances since his WrestleMania feud against The Undertaker. He fought at Greatest Royal Rumble and Super Show-Down, but apart from that, he hasn't been involved in any feuds.
Daniel Bryan's new found attitude against John Cena's "Hustle, Loyalty, Respect" persona would make for an interesting storyline. John Cena chasing his record breaking 17th reign as World Champion will add fuel to the fire.
John Cena is scheduled to return to WWE next week at Live Events. Him showing up to face Daniel Bryan would be a blockbuster surprise!
