In 1990, The Rock and Mankind formed a tag team named The Rock 'n' Sock Connection. Though this tag team was short-lived, it became fan favorite soon after its formation.

Their rivalry began back in Survivor Series (1998). From there The Rock (Heel) and Mankind (Babyface) feuded over the WWF Championship for nearly a year.

Perhaps the most memorable moment of their rivalry was when Foley defeated The Rock for the WWF Championship on an episode of Raw. It was Mick's first world title. After this, both men fought each other for a few times before ending their heated rivalry on an episode of Raw with a ladder match.

Soon, The Rock challenged The Undertaker and Big Show for the WWE Tag Team Champions after both men attacked him.

As it was a 2-on-1 handicap match, The Rock was seen as helpless. But then, Mick Foley marched down to the ring and asked Rock to form an allegiance, which he accepted promptly.

Later, both men defeated Undertaker and Big Show for the championships. Both men started to work as a team but their alliance broke up just two months later.

After this, The Rock reunited with Mankind a few times as The Rock 'n' Sock Connection.
