Since turning heel and proclaiming himself as 'The Monday Night Messiah', Seth Rollins has once again been on a meteoric rise in WWE. Not only did the former Universal Champion's latest heel turn give birth to 'The Monday Night Messiah', but the WWE Universe has also witnessed the inception of a new faction consisting of Rollins, Akam, Rezar, and Murphy, who like to claim themselves to be Rollins' disciples.
Since the formation of the group, Rollins and co. have targeted some of WWE's biggest babyfaces in the form of Rey Mysterio, Kevin Owens, and Samoa Joe, and with Murphy aligning himself with the faction, it didn't take long for Rollins and his disciple to capture some gold on RAW.
As seen on the January 21 edition of RAW, Rollins and Murphy won the RAW Tag Team Championships from The Viking Raiders in dramatic fashion and the duo established themselves as the tag team of the group, despite the presence of AOP.
Nevertheless, at this year's Super ShowDown event in Saudi Arabia, Rollins and Murphy successfully retained the RAW Tag Team Titles over The Street Profits and with this win, the duo will look forward to walking into WrestleMania 36 as the champions. That being said, here are 5 possible opponents against whom Rollins and Murphy could defend the RAW Tag Team Championship against at 'The Grandest Stage of Them All'.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#5 The OC
With AJ Styles rumored to compete in a huge singles match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 36, it is pretty much a known fact that the duo of Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows will accompany 'The Phenomenal One' to the ring during his clash against 'The Phenom'.
Given that Styles is almost confirmed to compete in such a high caliber match at 'Mania, the rightful decision for WWE would be to put his stablemates in a match of high prestige, as well. After all, Gallows and Anderson are 'The Best Tag Team In The World'.
With a win over The Viking Raiders at Super Showdown, The OC could very well be in line for a shot at the RAW Tag Team Titles, so why not have them challenge Rollins and Murphy at WrestleMania?
So far, the duo of Anderson and Gallows have competed in just one tag team match at WrestleMania and come April 5th, we could totally expect The OC to step up as the newest challengers for the RAW Tag Team Titles.
#4 Viking Raiders
Viking Raiders may have suffered a crucial loss to The OC at Super ShowDown, however, make no mistake, the team of Erik and Ivar have held the RAW Tag Team Championships for a total of almost 100 days before eventually losing the straps to Rollins and Murphy.
Having made their main roster debut in April of 2019, The Viking Raiders have almost dominated every other tag team on the red brand and have been on a squash streak for the entirety of 2019. On the October 14th episode of RAW, the duo finally made history by capturing the RAW Tag Team Titles from the team of Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode.
After dominating the tag team scene on RAW, it would only be fair for WWE to give The Viking Raiders a rematch at 'Mania 36 for the tag titles they lost to Murphy and Rollins back in January.
The duo of Ivar and Erik have previously competed at New Japan Pro Wrestling's biggest annual show of the year, Wrestle Kingdom and have also been a part of Ring of Honor's Final Battle show. With a resume as impressive as this one, The Viking Raiders could very well be part of WWE's biggest show of the year and chances are they could walk away with the RAW Tag Titles once again.
#3 Humberto Carrillo and Rusev
It seems like Humberto Carrilo has been in the good books of WWE for quite some time now and over the past few months, the Mexican sensation has challenged for the WWE United States Championship and has shared the ring with the likes of AJ Styles, Andrade, and Seth Rollins himself.
Currently involved in a feud against his cousin Angel Garza on RAW, Carrillo has been competing in numerous tag matches on RAW, teaming with non-other than Rusev. The duo of Rusev and Carrillo have actually been really impressive in their short tenure as a tag team so far, and despite not being a regular tag team, I'm sure fans wouldn't mind seeing the pair step up to the reigning RAW Tag Team Champions.
After all, Rusev is as over as they come with the WWE Universe and I'm pretty sure that the majority of his fanbase would love to see him be a part of this year's WrestleMania 36 card, as well (And no, we're not hoping for another Lashley vs Rusev match at WrestleMania!).
#2 Rey Mysterio and a debuting Dominick Mysterio
For months now, Rey Mysterio's son Dominick has been getting involved in his papa's storylines on RAW, so much so, Dominick has also been assaulted by WWE Champion Brock Lesnar on RAW, as 'The Beast Incarnate' sent the former off in stretchers. Not only that, but Dominick has also received quite a few warnings from Samoa Joe in the past, as well.
That being said, having Dominick Mysterio make his return and join forces with Rey would definitely be a sight to behold, as I believe it is finally time for the former to make his in-ring debut for WWE.
Mysterio himself has had his issues with Seth Rollins in the past and having him and his son challenge 'The Monday Night Messiah' and his disciple Murphy for the RAW Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania would definitely be an interesting feud that the WWE Universe would certainly be invested in.
Imagine having the father-son duo of Rey and Dominick Mysterio possibly win the RAW Tag Team Championships at 'The Showcase of Immortals'. That would definitely be one of the most iconic moments in WWE history.
#1 The Undisputed Era
If WWE is looking to create some unexpected hype and craze among the WWE Universe at WrestleMania 36, then all they have to do is play The Undisputed Era's theme song in-front of 60,000+ fans and watch them lose their minds.
The Undisputed Era is by-far the hottest topic in WWE today and despite the duo of Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish losing the NXT Tag Team Championships to The Broserweights (Pete Dunne and Matt Riddle) recently, The Undisputed Era's stock still remains higher than ever.
Being former three-time NXT Tag Team Champions, having TUE step-up as Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy's surprise WrestleMania challengers would definitely attract quite the crowd reaction. And, even better, having O'Reilly and Fish win the RAW Tag Titles would set-up the perfect platform for them to make their main roster debut.
If Adam Cole's legendary reign as NXT Champion is to finally come to an end at NXT TakeOver: Tampa, then I'm pretty sure WWE would also look to bring 'The Panama City Playboy' up to the main roster following 'Mania 36. With Roderick Strong also having lost his NXT North American Title, having The Undisputed Era show up on the RAW after 'Mania would be a mark-out moment for sure.
