Who's next for The Lone Wolf?

Well, looks like Baron Corbin's time in the dog house is finally over. He picked up a huge win at WWE Hell in a Cell 2017, defeating both AJ Styles and Tye Dillinger in a Triple Threat match to become the new WWE United States Champion and it looks like he is back on his path to becoming a main event heel.

But, in order for this victory to mean something, The Lone Wolf will need to build on his maiden championship in the WWE and have a monstrous run with the US Title. So, as we approach the post-WWE Hell in a Cell episode of Smackdown Live, who exactly should he be going up against in order to ensure he is able to move on to the next level? Well, that's what we're here to discuss.

So, without any further ado, here is our list of 5 possible opponents for Baron Corbin as WWE United States Championship:

Corey Graves deleted his Tweet! More details HERE.

#5) Tye Dillinger

We start the list off with one of Baron Corbin's two opponents from WWE Hell in a Cell, Tye Dillinger. The Perfect 10 has been quite the thorn in Corbin's side over the past few weeks and has even managed to get one over on The Lone Wolf.

He could easily be put in as the first major challenger to Corbin's crown but it will be interesting to see if the two former NXT stars and put on a great program without AJ Styles being involved in things.

#4) Open Challenge

Ever since John Cena elevated the WWE United States Championship to an elite level with his Open Challenges a few years ago, it seems like the WWE has been attempting to recapture that same kind of success.

One person who could do it but with a heel twist is Baron Corbin. He is big enough to take on all comers and this could really establish The Lone Wolf as a real threat on Smackdown Live.

#3) AJ Styles

Of course, we can't forget about the man who lost the WWE United States Championship at WWE Hell in a Cell 2017, AJ Styles. The Phenomenal One is obviously going to be out for blood on tonight's episode of Smackdown Live as he has a rematch clause he is yet to invoke.

What the WWE could do with this is make it an extended program rather than just a one-off affair. After all, if anyone can ensure The Lone Wolf has great matches going forward, it Mr Styles.

#2) Chris Jericho

Come on, Chris, it's time to return to the WWE

I'll admit, this one is highly unlikely, but it could be one of the best possible ways to ensure Baron Corbin is taken seriously in the WWE. Chris Jericho might not have been seen in the WWE for a while now, but we all know that he's prone to pop up from out of nowhere.

And, who is better at putting over younger talent than Y2J? No one, that's who. The Ayatollah of Rock n Rolla has long been regarded as one of the best veteran workers in the history of professional wrestling and he could do wonders for The Lone Wolf's career.

#1) Randy Orton

Now, I don't know if Randy Orton will be willing to undergo a program with Baron Corbin for the WWE United States Championship or not, but he is without a doubt, the best possible opponent for Corbin right now.

A successful program against The Viper would ensure The Lone Wolf is a made man. And, come on, Randy. It's time for you to start putting over younger guys and help them make the jump to the next level.
