Maxwell Jacob Freidman is one of the most talented wrestlers on the planet right now. And with his elite level promo game, it's only a matter of time until the Salt of the Earth is on top of All Elite Wrestling.
With the PAC controversy heading into Double or Nothing, All Out has been heavily affected (following booking routines, it likely would have been Jericho vs. Moxley, Omega vs. PAC and MJF vs. Hangman), but there's plenty of talent still available.
While MJF isn't a main event player right now, but he's clearly the future of the company. After losing in the Casino Battle Royale at Double or Nothing, it's time for them to give him a big win on the big stage.
So with All Out being just weeks away, sit back and read along as we look into possible matches being added to the Chicago card, and predict 5 possible opponents from the current AEW roster that could wrestle MJF in the Sears Centre.
#5 Jungle Boy
In some ways, Jungle Boy and MJF are very similar, as they are considered two huge stars of the future. But both the Superstars get the job done inside the ring in a very different manner.
Jungle Boy is athletic and likeable, while MJF is the cunning heel who will do whatever it takes to win, so that would no doubt translate to a fantastic match on a very big stage.
The only reason this one won't happen is if AEW are serious about pushing A Boy and his Dinosaur as a tag team (assuming they won't want to simultaneously push Jungle Boy on his own), but if not, this is a match made in heaven.
Jungle Boy isn't as polished as MJF is, but he's got the good looks and the likability to be a top star, and this is one that the company will no doubt be considering for August 31 in the Sears Centre.
#4 Brandon Cutler
Most of the people on this list are established stars that could assist in putting over the incredibly talented MJF, but a match with Brandon Cutler would help both men get over as big time stars.
Right now, Cutler seems to be just a backstage hand who gets placed in battle royal's, but he's quite a talented performer in his own right, and a big time singles bout with MJF could allow the rest of the world to see just that.
We aren't the only one's who have noticed, however, as MJF (a noted friend of Cody) has taken exception to how Cutler seems to be riding The Bucks coattails to the top.
Of course he got to this point through sheer hard-work alongside The Bucks, but MJF doesn't see it this way. And this bout, while MJF would no doubt come out on top would do wonders for Cutler as a babyface of the future.
#3 Dustin Rhodes
On the surface, this may seem like an odd contest, but given the intertwined stories of both men, it could be quite a good one.
Ever since MJF started appearing on Being the Elite, he posed as Cody's 'Best Friend', but when The American Nightmare would turn his back, MJF would be up to his old tricks, and Dustin could look to protect Cody here.
Ultimately, there is going to be a story between MJF and Cody down the line, and this could be the first step in Cody finally realising who Maxwell Jacob Friedman truly is.
This works for Dustin too, as he could not only protect Cody, but look to prove further that 'he's still got it' up against the younger generation.
Sure, this may be the worst match in terms of athleticism on this list, but in terms of storytelling and future implications for AEW, this is the best overall opponent for the Salt of the Earth.
#2 Joey Janela
Joey Janela and MJF have quite a bit of history throughout various different promotions, and on the biggest stage of both men's careers, they could tear the house down for the All Elite Wrestling faithful.
Janela stole the show with Jon Moxley at Fyter Fest, and while MJF is capable of working the hardcore/death-match style, a traditional match would make both men look much better.
Janela is a Bad Boy, and getting a singles bout with MJF would be a great way to show off his all-round character, rather than just his hardcore style. Janela is capable of losing to the bigger star in MJF without it hurting his character too much.
These two have had limited interactions in AEW (outside of the 6-man at Fight for the Fallen), and while it's unlikely that this will happen at All Out, it's certainly one that would elevate both men, but most of all, the bigger star in MJF.
#1 Darby Allin
While this isn't a match that anyone could have predicted a few months ago, Darby Allin is on the rise in All Elite Wrestling, and given the polar opposites that MJF and he are, this would be quite an intriguing contest.
Allin is a death-defying risk-taker, and on the big stage like All Out (AEW's biggest show to date), the former Evolve star would pull out all the stops to come out victorious.
Allin has a date with Shawn Spears in his future, as The Chairman took the spotlight from Darby at Fyter Fest, but given he'll be engaged with Cody in Chicago, this is the next best option.
Both men are fantastic performers in their own separate way, and if given 15 minutes to open the show at All Out, they can both solidify themselves as future stars and potential World Champions in All Elite Wrestling.
