Daniel Bryan has contended for the Intercontinental Championship several times in 2020. His matches with Sami Zayn and AJ Styles for the title were awesome, though Bryan failed to win against either. With his WWE Championship aspirations possibly getting thwarted by Roman Reigns at Fastlane 2021, he could find himself back in the IC title picture after that.
While current IC Champion Big E is currently in a feud with the recently resurgent heel Apollo Crews, it seems unlikely that he will lose his title to the Nigerian Superstar. WWE is slowly building Big E to be a main-event Superstar in the company, and a win over Daniel Bryan might elevate his stock to unforeseen levels.
Though the match would not have the traditional heel-face dynamic in place, the feud can be built-up around respect. The two are sure to steal the show if given enough time, and Daniel Bryan can be proud that he helped create another future main eventer for WWE.
