5 Potential feuds for Dean Ambrose on WWE Raw

Could a move to Raw revitalise Ambrose’s career?

I think it’s fair to say that Dean Ambrose is in need of a shake-up to his character and the ‘Superstar Shake-up’ could well give him that opportunity.

The ‘Lunatic Fringe’ was one of Raw’s top acquisitions in this week’s trades, but while he is still a popular member of the roster, he is not the main event star that many believed he would become when he first burst onto the scene. Ambrose isn’t a lost cause by any means. He always gets a great reception from the crowd and is still in the upper mid-card of the roster, as evidenced by him currently holding the Intercontinental Championship.

However, he isn’t the compelling character that many fans know he can be. But, with that being said, his recent move to Raw could give him the opportunity to propel himself into the main event scene.

Here are five potential feuds for Dean Ambrose on Raw that could help rejuvenate his career.

#1 Roman Reigns

Could former brethren soon become bitter enemies?

The ’Superstar Shake-up’ has changed the landscape of both rosters in WWE, and something that may have gone unnoticed is the fact that all three members of The Shield are now once again on the same brand.

While it is always great to see Ambrose and Seth Rollins compete in the ring, a feud between Dean and Roman Reigns is something that is yet to be truly explored and would be fascinating to watch.

Even after the implosion of The Shield, Reigns and Ambrose have remained on good terms, and nobody wants to see that!

If the ‘Lunatic Fringe’ were to be betrayed yet again by a former brother in Reigns, then a bitter, intense feud would ensue which could be the catalyst that sparks a change in Ambrose and transforms him into a bonafide main event star.

#2 Elias Samson

Elias Samson recently drifted onto Monday Night Raw

Elias Samson, along with Ambrose, is another new addition to the Raw roster after being promoted from NXT.

While Samson didn’t do anything particularly memorable during his time in NXT, he showed that he is a solid in-ring worker and his ‘Drifter’ gimmick draws genuine heel heat whenever he enters an arena. However, he still needs to establish his gimmick on the main roster, and Ambrose could be the man to help him do that.

Although a feud between Samson and Ambrose would benefit ‘The Drifter’ more than the current Intercontinental Champion, I could see this being a fun feud for Dean. Also, I can’t get the image of Ambrose smashing Samson’s guitar over his head out of my mind.

#3 Braun Strowman

Is Ambrose crazy enough to cross Strowman’s path of destruction?

Braun Strowman has been running through any competition that gets in his way for months, and only a lunatic would pick a fight with him. Lucky for us, there just so happens to be a lunatic on Raw.

Ambrose seems like a perfect opponent for Braun because he isn’t going to back down from a fight and ‘The Monster Among Men’ will be more than happy to carry on dishing out beatings.

A feud between the two would be a war and undoubtedly lead to an absolute car crash of a match, in a good way of course. Strowman is obviously a dominating force, but if they were to fight in a ‘No DQ’ match where ‘The Lunatic Fringe’ has access to any weapon he can get his hands on, you can only imagine what kind of punishment Dean’s sick mind could put Braun through. The Lunatic Fringe can certainly give Raw's resident monster some competition.

#4 Neville

The King of the Cruiserweights deserves more competition

The Cruiserweight division is in desperate need of some interaction with the rest of the Raw roster to validate them as top-level athletes. Neville, in particular, deserves to work with people higher up on the card, so why not put him in a feud with Dean Ambrose?

Obviously, Dean doesn’t qualify as a Cruiserweight so they wouldn’t compete for that Championship. But, if they were to fight for Ambrose’s Intercontinental Title, it would not only help the members of the ’205 Live’ roster seem legitimate, but it would also give ‘The Lunatic Fringe’ some genuine competition as Neville has looked like a star in recent months.

Also, it would be a different kind of opponent for both men and would lead to them showcasing parts of their move-set that we are not used to seeing and could result in some great matches.

#5 Samoa Joe

Ambrose vs. Samoa Joe would be a dream match for many fans

Samoa Joe is new to WWE’s main roster and is in need of a strong feud to establish himself with the Raw fanbase.

It seems like ‘The Destroyer’ is set for a program with Seth Rollins, but if he was to work with Dean Ambrose later in the year, it could be a feud that benefits both men.

Joe is an absolute machine and pairing him with Dean, who can brawl with the best of them, would guarantee some hard-hitting matches that would be fun to watch. To my knowledge, the two men have never faced each other in WWE or on the Independent wrestling scene, so this would be a dream match for a lot of fans who have followed their careers over the past ten-plus years.
