Matt Hardy and EC3 have previously feuded during their time in IMPACT

Matt Hardy shocked the WWE universe by announcing what seemed like a premature retirement.

The Woken One announced in August that he had to take some time off to heal the numerous injuries that he has been dealing with and that it was time for him to go home.

Many thought that this was Matt announcing that he was retiring from in-ring competition. This rumor was further strengthened when the Woken One posted a few photos of himself in a suit helping out Mike Rome with his promo and many started assuming that the elder Hardy was transitioning into a backstage producer role.

But, during his recent tour to India, Hardy clarified that he didn't actually retire and was actually taking time off to rest and heal the injuries he suffered during his last run. The Woken One said that he intends on returning to the ring soon.

If Hardy does eventually return to the ring, EC3 could be waiting in the ranks to renew his rivalry with Hardy.

Hardy and EC3 had a great feud during their time in IMPACT Wrestling. Hardy was the first superstar to defeat EC3 in IMPACT.

The duo has great chemistry and this could be a passing of a torch moment for Hardy as he looks to wind up his career in professional wrestling.
