In reality, the only electrifying Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is doing currently is at the box office, as his ratings are hitting anything but rock bottom. The Rock has made $65 million this year. Yes, Dwayne truly knows his roles well, being the second most successful actor in 2017.
However, after almost two years since The Rock has laid the smackdown on anyone inside the squared circle, I think it's about time The Rock puts on his elbow pads and gets ready for Wrestlemania 34, because FINALLY, The Rock will be back, at the 'Show of Shows' doing what he does best. Or at least, that's what I'm hoping for.
But who do the millions and millions of The Rock's fans want to see him face? Let's have a look at the top five candidates in the list below.
(Ps. Congrats Dwayne on your great news the other day!)
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#5 John Cena
Who wants a third instalment of 'The Franchise Player' vs. 'The Great One'? The C-Nation vs. The millions of The Rock's fans. In case you don't remember, Cena and Rock are currently tied at one win apiece, after the two previously battled, headlining both Wrestlemania 28 and Wrestlemania 29.
If by some miracle, both these movie stars were available at 'The Showcase of the Immortals', we could potentially have a two-out-of-three falls contest to decide once and for all, who is the best.
It's funny because the fans can't see John Cena very much now in the squared circle. He's a part-timer, yet Cena used to berate The Rock about how he's a part-timer, abandoning the WWE Universe to go off and make Blockbuster movies. The only difference between the two now is that only The Rock is making 'Blockbuster' movies.
But I understand, John Cena is incredible on the mic and once he finds a weakness in his opponent, he knows how to verbally drag it to the surface. And that's exactly what he did to The Rock. Plus, you can't blame John Cena for going off in an attempt to make Hollywood movies, he's done everything he needs to do in the WWE, becoming a sixteen-time World champion. Maybe one last battle between these two Hollywood stars is on the cards.
#4 The Miz
Did somebody say Hollywood stars? There's no bigger A-Lister in the entire Universe than The Miz, or so he would lead you to believe. The Miz is currently filming Marine 688 or whatever number it is now, proving how he's a more convincing lead than John Cena. But once he's finished filming, I'm sure The Miz would think a match against The Rock on the grandest stage of them all would be truly awesome.
Imagine the battles on the mic these two could put on. There are so many funny ways The Rock could rip into the resident A-Lister. I for one would love to see this go down. But love him or hate him, The Miz has been one of the best things in WWE in 2017. He's elevated the Intercontinental Championship to main event status and stolen the show week after week.
These two Fathers to be would put on a fascinating show at Wrestlemania, but the gold would be in the build up. The Miz felt that Rocky and Cena might have tried to overshadow him back at Wrestlemania 27, as The Miz defended his WWE Championship against John Cena in the main event. Well, now could be his time for revenge seven years on, and in my opinion, the best The Miz has ever been.
#3 Brock Lesnar
'The Beast' has been unstoppable as the WWE Universal Champion, partly because he's one of the most dominant superstars in all of sports entertainment, but also because he's only defended it three times since defeating Goldberg at Wrestlemania 33.
His fourth title defence seems to be coming up at the Royal Rumble, with the likely opponents being the two resident Monsters on Monday night RAW. Many fans believe the outcome to be predictable, with Roman Reigns destined to be the one to beat 'The Beast' at Wrestlemania 34 for the Universal Championship. But wouldn't it be amazing if it was Roman's Cousin who grabbed that opportunity as we get to see Rock vs. Brock part two.
The first time and only time these two have squared off one-on-one, Lesnar came out victorious, taking The Rock's WWE Undisputed Championship and his record as youngest ever world champion at the time. And it's hard to see that outcome being any different if these two fought again, Lesnar is even more dominant and much more experienced now than he was back in 2002. If the WWE decided to have this rematch, they would surely guarantee a sold-out Mercedes-Benz Superdome arena.
#2 Roman Reigns
If Roman Reigns was to turn heel, then turning on his beloved real-life cousin would be the best way possible to achieve this. Imagine if these two family members feuded and fought at Wrestlemania 34. Roman is carrying torches being thrown at him from all over the place at the moment, becoming the new poster boy for the WWE. Could a win against 'The Great One' provide him with his most important accolade yet?
Roman has headlined the previous three Wrestlemania events, against legends such as Brock Lesnar, Triple H and The Undertaker. But given the storyline behind this contest, this could be the biggest one of all. He might have proved the WWE ring was his yard, after defeating The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 33, but the WWE ring is The Rock's home.
And whoever says blood is thicker than water has clearly never been an avid fan of the WWE, as time and time again we've witnessed family members turning on each other. The Rock held his Cousin's hand in victory at the 2015 Royal Rumble event. The next time The Rock feels the touch of Roman's hand could very well be from a monstrous Superman punch, as the two battle at 'The Showcase of the Immortals'.
#1 Triple H
The Rock and Triple H have quite possibly had one of the greatest rivalries ever in sports entertainment. From Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs. Rocky Maivia to Degeneration-X vs. The Nation of Domination to The Rock vs. 'The Game' Triple H, this rivalry has seen plenty of legendary moments across the two decades. Both these stars were vital parts of the Attitude Era and taking WWF/WWE to the next level. Will this rivalry culminate with a match for the ages at Wrestlemania 34?
We saw it teased at Wrestlemania 31 when The Rock and Ronda Rousey got the better of Triple H and his wife Stephanie McMahon. Triple H knows what's best for business and this match can only be a good thing when it comes to raking in the ratings. He certainly hasn't ruled out this possibility in previous interviews. But does 'The Great One' need to put his body on the line against 'The Cerebral Assassin'? The last time The Rock had a full match in the WWE (not counting the squash match against Erick Rowan), he lost to John Cena and also suffered an injury.
Triple H has begun competing in the squared circle again on the Road to Wrestlemania, clearly gearing up for another challenge at 'The Show of Shows'. Will this challenge be perhaps, his greatest challenger of all time, 'The Great One' The Rock?
