As a part of Fire & Desire on SmackDown, Rose and her partner, Sonya Deville, challenged Asuka to a match for her SmackDown Women's Championship, which they lost. They have also met in the ring in matches for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship when Asuka was one-half of The Kabuki Warriors.
In her previous efforts, Rose has come up short against Asuka, narrowly missing out on her first championship win.
