I have a surprising admission for you. I am really looking forward to the mixed tag match at WrestleMania. In fact, I think John Cena and The Miz have done some of their best promo work of their careers, and that statement is saying something.
The Miz has sold this storyline quite well playing up the jealously angle for himself and Maryse. Maryse had some fun playing both of the Bella sisters, and the face team has shown some very non-PG fire in their promos. It feels raw and real as do most of the best feuds on SmackDown do.

So what can happen to throw even more curves in this suddenly exciting mixed-tag match for WrestleMania 33? I present my list of top five potential shocks that can occur in John Cena & Nikki Bella vs. The Miz & Maryse:
#5 Nikki Bella Turns Heel
Yes, I know Nikki isn’t exactly the best heel in the world. See her “memorable” feud with her sister as proof. It was cringe-worthy bad at times. But it would be the perfect shock on a memorable WrestleMania stage.
The feud has certainly and repeatedly mentioned the fact that John and Nikki are not married. While Cena has dismissed the idea on the main show, Nikki has been eerily quiet on the matter. This seems the perfect shocking idea to end the match. John Cena goes to get Nikki’s help only to watch her betray him. It would allow Cena to lose in sketchy fashion and give him a built-in excuse to vanish for the months to come.
I just hope Nikki is a better heel this time around.
#4 Nikki Retires After The Match
Whatever you think of Nikki as a performer, you cannot deny the incredible effort she put into her recovery from neck surgery. She missed nearly ten months and then returned to have some very physical matches with Carmella and Natalya. She really didn’t have to come back, but she's shown a real commitment to wrestling in the last few years. But reports have been surfacing of more injuries piling up since her return last summer. This would be a good moment to end her wrestling career.
Nikki could do what few have done in wrestling history and go out on top on the biggest stage.
#3 John Cena Proposes To Nikki Bella Post-Match
This shock almost seems too obvious, doesn’t it? The fact that Cena and Bella are not married has come up continually throughout the course of this personal feud. I've always loved the saying where there is smoke; there is fire. John Cena is going to shock us all and propose marriage in front of millions of fans watching. How romantic it would be.

The WWE loves to have romantic moments, and this would rank near the top because of John Cena’s star power. My personal suggestion for John is just don’t have the wedding on WWE programming. That rarely seems to ever work out. But a marriage proposal in front of 70,000 wrestling fans? That would be a shocking and unique moment for this match regardless of who wins in the end.
#2 Daniel Bryan Gets Involved In The Match
It seems strange that Daniel Bryan has been mentioned so much by The Miz in the last few months. Strange only because the extremely popular Bryan cannot get revenge against the cocky Miz. That should change at WrestleMania.
I will admit I am surprised that Bryan has not involved himself as the guest referee in the match in some way. Regardless, it will shock the crowd to see Daniel involved in the outcome of the tag match. If he costs The Miz the match, it would get quite a pop from the crowd and protect the heels. Either way, it would be foolish not to involve Daniel Bryan in some major way.
#1 The Miz Pins Cena Clean
I am sure nearly everyone expects John Cena to overcome the odds again and for Nikki Bella to get her victory on a major stage. That is why the heels should win and shock us all.
Let us face it, Cena and Nikki do not need the victory. In fact, both of them are likely to transition to part-time status in the months to come. It does little good for the Smackdown brand to have them win and just vanish. Meanwhile, The Miz and Maryse have been major heels who have helped carry the brand since the split last summer.
The reactions The Miz has gotten are among the best of his career. If WWE wants to actually shock the world, they should have The Miz beat the part-time heroes. Can you imagine how The Miz would brag about that? That would be the best shock of all.
