The sight of the British Bulldog beating Bret Hart and capturing the intercontinental championship in front of a jam-packed Wembley stadium is the stuff the legends are made of. Summerslam 1992 was the highest attended shows in WWE history.

WWE has since then held only one major event in the United Kingdom - NXT Takeover: London way back in 2015. The UK fans have been clamoring for the world's biggest wrestling promotion to return to their country for another major pay-per-view event.

The UK wrestling is the hottest it has ever been and with the re-debut of the hugely popular World of Sports (WOS), it is only expected to grow by leaps and bounds in the coming years. WWE has taken notice of the same with the introduction of the UK Championship and the recently announced NXT UK Brand and with the company signing some of the UK's top tier talent like Toni Storm, El Ligero, and Jack Gibson, it seems like the company have realised the true potential that this part of the world has.

Holding Summerslam at the iconic Wembley Stadium, which hosted the greatest edition of the event will be a huge statement on WWE's part. With the company opening up to the producing larger events outside North America, this will only solidify the company's position at the top of the wrestling pyramid.
