Shane McMahon was reportedly "quietly let go" following his appearance in the annual Royal Rumble match last month.
The son of the WWE Chairman hasn't appeared on WWE TV since The Royal Rumble despite reports that he was planned to have a match at WrestleMania.
Could WWE utilize the real-life backstage power struggle between the McMahons and allow Vince to face off against his own son at WrestleMania?
If this is the plan, it would explain why Shane's WWE departure wasn't officially announced. It would also open a storyline for his return to the company as an authority figure.
It's unknown if the relationship between Vince and Shane would allow the two men to battle it out at WrestleMania, or even choose someone to do this on their behalf. That being said, it would be an interesting angle that could lead to added stipulations and changes to the company moving forward.
