WrestleMania 35 is five weeks away and it is already looking like one of the most exciting 'Manias of all time. A couple of matches have been confirmed, with another few being wildly speculated.
Among the confirmed matches are Seth Rollins vs Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship and Ronda Rousey vs Charlotte Flair for the Raw Women's Championship, with Becky Lynch expected to be added to the bout in the coming weeks. Also, Buddy Murphy will defend the Cruiserweight Championship against the winner of a number one contender's tournament on 205 Live.
The WWE Championship match looks set to feature Daniel Bryan and Kofi Kingston, possibly along with Kevin Owens. Other big matches on SmackDown include Shane McMahon vs The Miz and AJ Styles vs Randy Orton, two matches that have been rumored for months now.
There is no obvious choice for Asuka's WrestleMania match, with the SmackDown Women's Champion making a solitary appearance since Royal Rumble. Aside from that, the plans for all of the mid-card championships, as well as the tag team's, are completely open at the moment.
Here are five likely WrestleMania matches for each of the mid-card and tag team titles.
#5 The Revival vs Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder (RAW Tag Team Championship)
Back in January, Zack Ryder made an appearance to save Curt Hawkins from a beatdown from the Revival on Raw, reuniting the pair of former Edgeheads. Hawkins is currently in the middle of a losing streak, something that has affected his progress in tandem with Ryder.
Meanwhile, Dash and Dawson beat Glorious Gable to win the Raw Tag Team Championship. This has come after the pair asked for their release from the WWE. However, the Revival has lost every match they have had since becoming the champions.
They lost to DIY in an NXT rematch on Raw, before a quick defeat to the team of Ricochet and Aleister Black the following week. WWE doesn't seem to be pushing them as we had hoped, despite giving them the titles.
Secondarily on Raw, Hawkins and Ryder look to turn around the fortunes of their unfortunate positions on the show into possibly a tag title reign. The Major Brothers should somehow get a Raw tag title match at WrestleMania without winning a match so that Curt Hawkins could end his 200 plus match losing streak by winning a championship at the Show of Shows.
Prediction: Hawkins and Ryder snap the long losing streak and win the titles
#4 The Usos vs The Hardy Boyz vs The Bar vs Heavy Machinery (SmackDown Tag Team Championship)
What would WrestleMania be without a multi-person Tag Team Championship match? This is a decent way to get a couple of fun teams on the 'Mania card and away from the battle royal. The Usos are another team who seemed to be unhappy with their position in the company and are, therefore, the tag team champions.
They will defend the belts against the Miz and Shane McMahon at Fastlane, a match that should be routine for them. After that, it is all for the taking. Matt Hardy returned to the ring on SmackDown, reuniting with Jeff, as they beat the Bar.
The Hardy Boyz seem to be locked for a SmackDown tag title match at WrestleMania, with the other teams in question. Sheamus and Cesaro are too good to be left out, while Heavy Machinery has been making an impact on WWE's main roster.
Otis could really become one of the most over wrestlers in the WWE's entire tag team scene, something that could benefit him and Tucker. These four teams would have a fun fast-paced match on any part of what will be a long WrestleMania card. As for the winners, we cannot look past the current champs.
Prediction: The Usos retain
#3 Sasha Banks and Bayley vs Trish Stratus and Lita (Women's Tag Team Championship)
Sasha Banks and Bayley won an incredible Elimination Chamber match to become the first WWE Women's Tag Team Champions, last eliminating Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville.
These two were built for the tag titles, and with the payoff to their long and frustrating story having finally arrived, it is time to look ahead. These two will defend the titles against Nia Jax and Tamina at Fastlane. After they are done with that challenge, WWE should really book something big for WrestleMania.
The biggest possible match WWE could book features two of the all-time greats. Upon their last exit, Trish Stratus and Lita were both rumored to return to WWE for a WrestleMania match. This could be the one.
A perfect blend of past and present will make so much sense, as these two super popular babyface teams go at it. These four could potentially tear the house down and have a classic at the Show Of Shows. Sasha and Bayley could not have a bigger title match in front of them and will go on to retain the belts in what should be a really good match.
Prediction: Sasha and Bayley are still champs
#2 Rey Mysterio vs Andrade Cien Almas (United States Championship)
Last month, in the leadup to Royal Rumble, Rey Mysterio and Andrade had a couple of excellent matches on SmackDown. This series has completely revitalized Andrade and has turned him into a real player on the blue brand while making the WWE Universe clamor for more action between the pair.
It truly has been a pleasure to watch such seamless action between two masters in the ring. They fought again, to everyone's pleasure, in a triple threat for R-Truth's United States Championship. A match between them is likely to happen at Fastlane.
After that, one of these two should capture the US title from Truth, preferably Andrade, to set up a blowoff match at WrestleMania. It would be the perfect place to culminate such a great story of intense action while building the title back up to actually mean something.
The US title has been meaningless for a really long time, ever since Dolph Ziggler vacated it in 2017. But a lightning-paced 10-minute match at the Show Of Shows would be the perfect recovery for the lost value of this title.
These two could work their magic to steal the show. Mysterio finally conquering the dastardly Andrade would be a great feel-good moment, but it honestly does not matter who wins this match.
Prediction: Rey Mysterio wins his first US title
#1 Finn Balor vs Ricochet vs Aleister Black vs Bobby Roode (Intercontinental Championship)
The Intercontinental Championship is probably the most difficult championship to predict, as we head closer to WrestleMania. We do not know what is going to happen until we find out the plans for the rest of the Raw matches.
Roman Reigns is back in the WWE and will wrestle at WrestleMania. Depending on whether it is a singles, tag team or multi-man match outright, the Intercontinental title match will be booked. With most of the Raw mid-card occupied, WWE could look at their new NXT call-ups for a big opportunity.
Aleister Black and Ricochet are now teaming up, as they are in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and look to be positioned in a really strong way. Their plans for NXT Takeover: New York does not seem to be much more than a multi-team tag title match, so that leaves a huge window for them to be doing something of significance at WrestleMania, unlike Johnny Gargano or Tommaso Ciampa.
Expect these two to challenge Balor for the IC title at the Show Of Shows. However, WWE is already booking one big triple threat match, with another one being a possibility. So they would likely add another name to this match.
Enter Bobby Roode.
The Glorious One has been a disappointing face on WWE's main roster, despite a good last few months as Raw Tag Team Champion alongside Chad Gable. This partnership might have run its course and it could be time to finally pull the trigger on the Bobby Roode heel turn.
This should propel him to a main card championship match at WrestleMania. All four of these wrestlers were singles champions in NXT, creating one hell of an interesting dynamic. This could be one of the better matches on a stacked night of wrestling, giving us a pretty shocking result in the process.
WWE could have one of the new guys win, as a way to show that they are going all in on them.
Prediction: Aleister Black wins the title after an impressive match
