Before his WWE debut, Rowan featured in a reality TV Show – Alt For Norge. Dubbed as The Great Norway Adventure in the United States of America, this TV show took Americans of Norwegian descent back to Norway.

The show first aired in 2010 and Erick Rowan was one of those few people who were taken back to their home country. In the following weeks, the contestants were required to perform traditional Norwegian tasks which included eating lutefisk, a traditional Norwegian dish, and camping in the wilderness.

The show also took the contestants to meet their relatives whose existence was unknown to the former. By the end of the season, Rowan came third and ended his association with reality TV.

#1 Tough run at NOAH

Before signing with WWE, Rowan went to Japan and joined Pro Wrestling Noah in 2007. Back then he used to go by the ring name, Thoruf Marius. However, his run at NOAH was far from smooth.

There, he competed both as a Single’s wrestler and as part of Tag Teams. However, none of that helped him elevate his position in the promotion. He featured in eighteen matches throughout his run with the company but managed to win only two.

That forced him to return to the United States in less than a year. Soon after that, Rowan signed with WWE and began appearing on Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW).

With time, Rowan made his way to NXT as Bray Wyatt’s ‘second son’ and went on to represent the Wyatt family alongside his Tag Team partner and Bray’s first son, Luke Harper.
