CM Punk kicked off tonight's edition of WWE SmackDown in front of a lively crowd in Chicago, Illinois. The veteran boasted about Drew McIntyre "quitting" the company on this past Monday's episode of WWE RAW before he was interrupted by Paul Heyman.

The Wiseman of The Bloodline cautiously entered the ring with his former client and gave him a hug. He then changed his tune and said CM Punk needs to get out of the ring before The Bloodline attacks. Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa made their way to the ring but Cody Rhodes showed up with baseball bats in hand. He handed one to Punk and The Bloodline retreated. The American Nightmare then challenged Solo Sikoa to a match with everyone barred from ringside to end the segment.

Listed below are five reasons why CM Punk and Paul Heyman should reunite following WWE SmackDown:

#5. The WWE Universe seemingly wants to see it

The crowd erupted when Paul Heyman interrupted CM Punk on this week's episode of WWE SmackDown. Fans also went crazy when The Wiseman asked Punk if he could leave with him during tonight's show.

However, Punk decided not to leave and opted to poke fun at Sikoa instead for "cosplaying" as The Tribal Chief. The reaction from fans tonight should not be ignored and it could lead to Heyman and Punk reuniting sometime down the line.

#4. The new version of The Bloodline does not respect Paul Heyman

Solo Sikoa's version of The Bloodline seemingly does whatever they want to and do not rely on Paul Heyman's wisdom. This is in stark contrast to how Roman Reigns treated The Wiseman, as Heyman's relationship with The Tribal Chief was based on mutual respect.

It was clear that CM Punk still thinks highly of Paul Heyman, as seen during tonight's WWE SmackDown, and the former AEW star was also seated in the front row as the 58-year-old was inducted into the Hall of Fame earlier this year. Heyman could attempt to flee The Bloodline in the weeks ahead and make the jump to WWE RAW in order to manage CM Punk moving forward.

#3. Roman Reigns may want nothing to do with Paul Heyman when he returns

Roman Reigns is currently on a hiatus and has missed been missed on WWE television by the fans since his losing his title to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania XL. The Bloodline is now once more seemingly in a rivalry with The American Nightmare, but Paul Heyman clearly wants no part of the group's new direction.

Solo Sikoa has claimed that he has spoken to Roman Reigns and was appointed the leader of the faction until he returns. If Sikoa is telling the truth, he could be acting out the wishes of The Head of the Table on SmackDown. Reigns may view Heyman's actions as insubordination and kick him out of the group when he returns. This would leave Heyman all alone, and he could look to reunite with CM Punk to help the veteran become champion once again.

#2. CM Punk could eventually turn heel on WWE television

WWE could have plans on turning CM Punk heel in the future and Paul Heyman would be instrumental on getting fans to boo the 45-year-old. Heyman and Punk have worked together in the past, and the promotion may want to reunite them if the veteran were to turn heel.

Paul Heyman helped guide Roman Reigns to one of the most remarkable runs the wrestling industry has ever seen. However, Reigns had to turn heel to do so, and WWE could attempt to create another dominant faction down the line featuring Punk and Heyman.

#1. Paul Heyman may need CM Punk to protect him from The Bloodline

CM Punk made it known that he is not afraid of The Bloodline during his appearance tonight on the blue brand. The same cannot be said for Paul Heyman, who was whimpering in the corner of the ring throughout the opening segment of SmackDown.

If Roman Reigns is in alignment with Solo Sikoa, Paul Heyman may be forced to seek protection from the group. He could approach CM Punk once again in the coming weeks and earnestly ask him for help against The Bloodline. Punk would likely feel compelled to help his old friend and it may lead to them reuniting on a permanent basis.
