#2. Consistency with Edge's character
One of the subtle things that Edge has done since his 2021 return is something that most fans have missed out on. Despite being a babyface, Edge never truly lost the "ultimate opportunist" side of him.
A perfect example of that is after Edge won the Royal Rumble, and he went to confront the three big Champions in WWE - Drew McIntyre (RAW), Finn Balor (NXT), and Roman Reigns (SmackDown).

When having an interaction with Drew McIntyre, Edge questioned why he was always so nice and respectful. The Scotsman replied that he knew it was something "an ultimate opportunist would find hard to understand."
It's little moments like that which separates Edge from a lot of the current WWE roster. When being a heel, Edge is at his most natural state. It's a great bit of consistency for the character that we've seen all these years.
Granted, 10 years is a long time for any human being to change, and it only makes sense that a character changes with time. But the Ultimate Opportunist side of Edge was something that defined his character, and that's why it makes a lot of sense for him to turn heel before WrestleMania.
