The recently concluded WWE Premium Live Event, Clash at the Castle: Scotland, saw Damian Priest retain his World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre in the main event. The match's closing moments saw CM Punk's shocking interference and attack on The Scottish Warrior, helping The Judgment Day member retain his gold.
The Archer of Infamy may still face a threat from a vicious McIntyre who would argue that he was cheated out of a win. Priest would also have to look out for Gunther, who has a guaranteed shot at the World Heavyweight Championship after he became the King of the Ring. But Finn Balor is the ideal challenger for the World Heavyweight Champion. There has been tension between the two Judgment Day members, which could all lead to a massive implosion in the coming weeks.
Here, we look at five reasons Finn Balor should betray Damian Priest and challenge him for the World Heavyweight Championship on WWE RAW.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#1 The Judgment Day undergoes huge changes on WWE RAW
Finn Balor going after Damian Priest may be the best way to break up The Judgment Day. JD McDonagh is loyal to Balor and will side with The Prince. Dominik Mysterio may leave and take Carlito with him. The turn on Priest would make him a babyface, who would have to deal with the consequences of things he did as a heel.
Alternatively, Balor could convince the entire heel faction to betray Damian Priest on WWE RAW. The Archer of Infamy had insulted other members when they lost their matches and forced his leadership onto the group in Rhea Ripley's absence. He also repeatedly said he didn't need anyone, which could have rubbed his faction the wrong way, giving everyone a reason to side with Balor should he go against Priest.
#2 Potential alliance with Liv Morgan
Finn Balor has spent the last few weeks keeping Dominik Mysterio away from Liv Morgan. However, in the last episode of WWE RAW before Clash at the Castle, Balor stole the hotel room key to Morgan's room, which she left for Dominik Mysterio. The Prince was previously spotted exiting the same car as Morgan during a backstage segment on the show.
It is worth noting that Finn Balor and Liv Morgan have worked together before against The Judgment Day when they also had AJ Styles by their side. Since Morgan wishes to take everything from Rhea Ripley, she could form a mutually beneficial alliance with Balor to make or break The Judgment Day.
#3 Next WWE Money in the Bank winner
Finn Balor turning on Damian Priest is an exciting storyline that needn't be rushed. The Triple H-led creative team has done an excellent job creating compelling long-term storylines. The Game could opt for something similar in the case of Balor and Priest's potential title feud. Next month, top WWE Superstars will compete in Ladder matches to win the coveted Money in the Bank contracts.
There is no doubt that Damian Priest will be watching closely, considering that's how he became the World Heavyweight Champion. Balor could ultimately walk out with the briefcase, which itself presents an interesting situation. His win would force the World Heavyweight Champion and the Money in the Bank holder to work in the same group, setting up an exciting plot for a jaw-dropping betrayal.
#4 Finn Balor deserves to enter the world championship picture
Finn Balor was the inaugural Universal Champion but was forced to relinquish his gold after suffering an injury during the title match. Unfortunately, The Prince was never shown the throne again on the main roster. He has been an incredible talent for the red brand over the years.
He has spent far too much time either on the sidelines or taking losses on WWE RAW. It is the right time to establish him as one of the big threats in the world championship picture and have him compete for the top prizes in the promotion.
#5 Triple H can bring Finn Balor's story to a full circle in WWE
There is no denying that Finn Balor thrived at WWE NXT under Triple H. It is in the hands of The Game to bring Balor's story to a full circle by having him win the world championship after never having lost it years ago. He has done good work as a heel despite losing most of his matches.
However, Balor has consistently been in the main event, and Triple H should use this opportunity to get The Judgment Day star to gather momentum. A perfectly timed betrayal would work wonders for Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and the rest of Judgment Day, and this storyline must end with him becoming the champion again.
