Once upon a time, Kevin Owens was the top heel on the RAW brand and was the Universal Champion before a certain Goldberg arrived and brought his reign to an untimely end. During this time, he had several titanic battles with Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, both of whom were babyfaces.

Female superstar says she inspired John Cena turning heel HERE
AEW megastar Chris Jericho was involved in the feud as well, as Kevin Owens and Le Champion united for one of the most entertaining heel tandems long before The Inner Circle was even a thing. The point that we're trying to make here is that Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens have worked together in the past, and the results have been awesome.
Even back then, the audience would root for Kevin Owens over Roman Reigns because booing Roman Reigns was the cool thing to do.
So now, they have the chance to cheer him on as the babyface as he goes up against the top heel in the entire company right now.
