#4. To end Goldberg's connection with Universal Title

Though Goldberg's streak of 173 victories was ended by Kevin Nash years ago, he was quietly making another streak with The Universal Championship. The WCW legend has only challenged the title twice and won both the matches.

Moreover, both these contests were on the Road to WrestleMania. He beat Kevin Owens and The Fiend to capture the title in 2017 and 2020 respectively. Thus, his chances of doing the same were high this time as well.

But The Head of the Table was a little too much for Goldberg as he finally defeated the WCW legend in the Universal title challenge.

#3. Reigns defeated Goldberg because he couldn't do it in 2020

Two years back, Roman Reigns and Goldberg were just a few days away from locking horns at WrestleMania 36. Reigns challenged then-Universal Champion Goldberg for the title, which was accepted.

However, COVID-19 struck the world around that time and The Big Dog opted for a break from WWE due to his existing medical conditions. With all due respect to Goldberg, that match too would have likely been won by Roman Reigns.

So, Reigns defeated Goldberg because he couldn't do it in 2020. But it can be argued that we would never have got the heel Reigns had he competed against The Icon at the time.
