#2 Both The Fiend and Braun Strowman were protected in a sense at WWE Payback 2020, despite Roman Reigns' win
For the second time in a week (give or take), The Fiend and Braun Strowman took each other to the limit as the former Wyatt Family members inflicted carnage and chaos upon one another across the arena. And so, by the time that Roman Reigns had arrived, The Fiend and Braun Strowman had already taken each other to the limit with some incredible spot, including one, where the ring actually broke. So yes, both The Fiend and Braun Strowman came out on the losing end of the contest at WWE Payback 2020, but in a sense neither was really harmed by the outcome, really.
One has to assume that Braun Strowman will move out of the Championship picture now, but The Fiend still has a score to settle with Roman Reigns.
And so yes, Roman Reigns became the Universal Champion after defeating Braun Strowman and The Fiend because both men were protected in the process of his victory.
