#2 Sonya Deville is chomping at the bit for a Title opportunity
With the exception of a short 4-day reign of Charlotte Flair mixed in to allow for her heel turn, Bayley has been the SmackDown Women's Champion for well over a year now. She's pretty much run the gamut of the women's locker room, and the company continues to delay an inevitable feud with Sasha Banks. So with that in mind, she needs new challengers.
Both Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose would breathe new life into the Title scene, but I personally think the time is right for Sonya to get the opportunity. Her promo work and character development over the last few months has given her a wave of momentum and now is the right time to cash in on it.
In a recent interview with Sportskeeda, Sonya Deville says winning Championship gold is definitely an immediate goal - once she's through with Mandy Rose.
"As soon as I'm finished with Mandy... when I say finished with Mandy, I mean, she's out of my life and out of this division because that's my only goal in ruining her is to get her away from me and, um, to devalue her totally as a human. So when that is done and that is accomplished, I will move on to winning championship gold. Cause that's what I'm destined to do."
Sonya Deville says she has her sights set on both the RAW and SmackDown Women's Championships - assuming that both Sasha Banks and Bayley are successful in their Title defenses against Asuka on Sunday.
"The only reason those two (Sasha Banks and Bayley) still have all the gold right now is because they haven't faced me yet. So yes, that is my immediate future goal."
I'm not saying a win over Mandy Rose should put her directly into the Title conversation, but a loss could possibly delay that opportunity even further. Sonya Deville should be fighting for singles gold sooner rather than later. It's time for WWE to get the ball rolling on her ascension to the top of the card.
