Allow me to ask you a question. What does Sonya Deville losing her hair actually accomplish? The answer is nothing.
It would be a huge loss on a grand stage like SummerSlam, but ultimately it would just be another disappointing defeat for the Sonya Deville character. Just this time around she has to cut her hair. It's a little bit of salt in the wound of losing a match to her former best friend, but other than that it doesn't add much.
Sonya Deville is used to being the outcast. She's used to being different. Her dynamic wouldn't change hardly at all if she lost her hair. Now if Mandy were to lose this bout, well that's a horse of a different color.
Now this isn't a knock on Mandy Rose's work ethic or in ring ability, because she has talent and has worked hard to get where she is in WWE. However, when it comes to the Mandy Rose character, it's always been about her looks first. You don't get the nickname "God's Greatest Creation" for no reason.
As I said earlier, Mandy losing her hair will not equate to a lifetime of suffering, but it does create an interesting short term story. Obviously Mandy Rose would still be a gorgeous woman, hair or no hair. The question is, would Mandy still think that way about herself? How would she cope without her golden locks? Would she go the Molly Holly route and try on wigs? How would the rest of the locker room treat her? How would Otis react to his precious peach losing all her hair? Would he stick by her side?
There's a lot of different avenues the company could take here. There's a lot of meat on that bone, at least more so than if Sonya Deville was the one to suffer the unfortunate hair cut. I for one, would be very interested in seeing any number of them play out - while Sonya Deville moves on to her next goal of winning a Championship.
