#3. The Miz's first WWE Championship reign was a colossal failure
In retrospect, The Miz's first WWE Championship reign was a failed project. Flanked by his former protege Alex Riley, The Miz portrayed a cowardly and weak heel, who was consistently overshadowed by John Cena, Randy Orton, CM Punk, and The Rock. Moreover, The "New" Nexus was also running rampant during that time period as another factor that took the attention off the reigning WWE Champion, The Miz. WrestleMania 27 is a prime example of this.
Many people might not remember this, but The Miz headlined WrestleMania 27 with Cena. At the event, he walked out of the event as the WWE Champion, but he was one of the night's biggest losers as The Rock hit him with the Rock Bottom to close out the show. WrestleMania 27 ended up weakening his character and damaging his mystique. He lost the WWE Championship to John Cena and was quietly phased out of the title picture.
With The Rock and Cena out of the picture now, there are very few Superstars who could undermine The Miz now. It's time for The Miz to enjoy a proper WWE Championship reign, one that expresses just how great a star he is.
