Could the underdog from the underground achieved now on Smackdown Live be a good enough reason to change the character?

Much like the comparison to the polarizing nature of John Cena, Bayley has a quality that can be compared to a male competitor on SmackDown Live. Whether it was during his time in NXT, on Raw, or his early transition onto SmackDown Live, Sami Zayn continued to do everything in his power to put on great matches and receive the adulation of fans.

His in-ring work and demonstration of the heart were undeniable. Fans were able to connect with him as he showed true sacrifice when he stepped into the ring with those not only bigger but often stronger than him.

When Zayn came to Smackdown Live, it felt as though it would have been his best opportunity to succeed, and to be used in feuds with another top talent. Through it all, he was the consummate face. However, eventually, he was tired of being passed over and having to sit idly as others were elevated around him.

It made sense for his character to change direction, as simply doing the right thing ultimately didn't help him. For Bayley, having to sit idly and be passed over is enough to make the hugger completely snap and do what is right for her, rather than what is right for her, friendships.
